Dayton Birth Doula Philosophy
*A woman's wishes should be respected, whether she prefers a medicated birth, an all-natural birth, or something in between.

*A warm, supported birth experience has the potential to help heal past birth trauma.

*A woman should come out of her birth empowered. If she doesn't, she should receive the postpartum support she needs to help her process her experience.

*Birth is more than a means to get the baby out. The process itself has worth.

*A healthy mother and a healthy baby are of utmost importance. But the mother's emotional well-being must not be downplayed.

*The birth doula should enhance communication between the woman, her partner and their care-providers -- never stand in the way of it.

*It's important that the birth doula work as a team with the father/partner/birth partner, enhancing their role by equipping them with the tools and confidence they need to support the mother.

*Not all who give birth identify as a woman. These families deserve compassionate respectful care.
